Marieke Brugman is Oceania Luxury Travel Co’s travel guru and special correspondent. Marieke is European by heritage, Australian by birth, an art historian by training, a cook and chef by passion, a global traveller by choice and a yoga student and teacher by inspiration.
Marieke’s professional life has seen over forty years in the hospitality and travel industry – originally owning a pioneering gourmet retreat and residential cooking school that quickly garnered a respected reputation and tremendous following in Australia and abroad. Gourmet cycling tours of the Australian wine regions and the Flinders Ranges inspired her first ventures into the travel industry and that quickly expanded into cultural and culinary escorted programs overseas.
Her company, Marieke’s Art of Living specialises in luxury, cultural and culinary vacations and yoga retreats around the globe, hallmarked by meticulous planning and maximum enjoyment for her guests. Wonderful destinations the last three decades have included Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, France, Turkey, China and Bali. The current focus is India in its many guises, Kashmir, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Morocco and about to be launched, Mexico and Cuba. The company also has expertise in bespoke travel for private clients.
